TCCOR 1C (Caution)!

Wind speeds are starting to crest above 34 knots, so all outside activities except those in direct support of critical missions (you know who you are) are discontinued. All personnel except those standing typhoon watches are secured to quarters - Happy Saturday! Also time for all expectant moms (37 weeks or greater) to head to Camp Lester.

Next step will be 1E (Emergency) when the winds start topping 50 knots.

Batten down the hatches! Stormy

Commander Fleet Activities Okinawa Winds at Naha Airport are 28 gusting to 46 knots right now - 1E should be just around the corner. Stormy

Good morning, Okinawa! (sort of). Typhoon Jelawat continues to truck this direction and, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center, has its 29-mile-wide eye trained on us. There's been a slight weakening, but this is still a very strong storm - our neighbors in Ishigaki saw wind gusts up to the mid-90s and had over 50 knots of sustained wind for about six hours. We can probably expect about the same as Jelawat galumphs through our tropical paradise.

Winds outside are climbing now, with sustained 19 knots, gusting to 35. Not sure when we'll see TCCOR 1C, but it's on it's way. Stay tuned, stay safe! Stormy
