The temps here in Tampa in the last month have been anywhere from extremely hot (92 on April 16th, hottest we ever got that early) to extremely nice (high of 75 on May 6th, tying the lowest high temperature for that day on record). That is a big range for us, especially given the hot weather came first. Of course it is now 80 degrees in my house again. Oh so close to needing the air conditioner, but we may see some low 60's again in a few days to cool it down again.

Water temp nearest to me is now 80 degrees again. During some of the hotter periods in the last month though it hit 81.5 briefly on April 19th. Of course Tampa Bay gets more temperature variation than away from the shallow water. Most of the Gulf is not even close.

Meanwhile seems like there has been a lot of shear in the Carib, even more than normal:

Current look at shear:

The East Pacific season starts Wednesday. Also on that same day, Jim's city picks.

I've been working on redesigning my recon system in the off season. It is taking awhile, so it probably will not be completely finished until late this year at the earliest, though I hope to have rewritten parts up and running during sometime in the middle of hurricane season. Perhaps even just in testing. I'm kind of rewriting everything.
