Jim is pretty spot on most years and, unfortunately, I expect nothing less this year.

I say unfortunately, both from a selfish standpoint (I'm in between #1 and #2) and from a practical standpoint.

The central Gulf coast has gone generally unscathed since Katrina.  Lee and some tropical storms notwithstanding, this area is living on borrowed time.  7 years was already a long stretch.  There hadn't been that long of a stretch since the late 1980s/early 1990s.  To go 8 years would be really statistically significant.

If 2004 is the track pattern that develops, then it is going to be a busy year.  I remember watching Ivan approach with impending doom.

I'll buckle up, Jim, and watch this one get going.

Most interested to see how my subdivision and others like it will fare.  My subdivision started in 2008, and houses are still going up.  I'm 10 miles from the coast now, and 6 miles from the bay, so still in plenty of harm's way.

Best of luck to everyone, from my Florida bethren to Texas, and beyond.
