Hey Hanna - perhaps you meant "Alligator Point, Apalachicola area," rather than Pensacola?   Here in Pensacola Beach we're over 200 miles west of Alligator Point.

And just in case anybody wonders, there's virtually nothing to check in about here -- we've got a mix of clouds and sun with moderate northeast breezes.   No rain, which is too bad 'cause we could use it.

Haven't checked Gulf water conditions today, though I note the red flags are flying -- which happens just about any time there's a storm of any intensity anywhere in the Gulf.

Anticipated high water caused the National Park Service yesterday to close the  Fort Pickens area at the far western end of Santa Rosa Island, which ticked off a lot of campers who'd come a long way, including some who'd just gotten set up.   A shame.  Gotta feel for 'em, but the island is just too fragile now, and last time we had a storm it washed feet of sand over the road, stranding everybody out there for days.
