Same here along the Gulf Coast, where everyone should know better.  People called surprise on Katrina.  NOT A CHANCE!

She was barreling toward the central Gulf as a Cat 5, and you want to say "I didn't know it could be this bad".  

Proof that people never learn:  In 1969, a "hurricane-proof" apartment complex in Biloxi/Gulfport area was full of more than 200 people when Camille scraped it to a slab, killing all but 2 in the building, one of them being a baby that washed up more than 500 yards away.

Fast forward to 2005:  An apartment complex in Biloxi/Gulfport area was full of more than 200 people when Katrina scraped it to a slab, killing EVERYONE in the building.

They will never learn.
