| The last major hurricane in the area was in 1921. A four year old then would be 100 now. You might be able to count on a hand or two, literally, the number of people that remember that storm. And I doubt they would have been telling people they know about the storm anytime recently. This area will never be as prepared as it needs to be for a storm. Obviously it's great not being hit that often by powerful hurricanes, but then no one really understands their power in the area. You can lose more lives that way if people don't take the storm seriously when it is time to take the storm more seriously for an area. |
