Official death toll from Maria in Puerto Rico finally comes closer to reflecting actual toll

64 to 2,975. But still a guess.

This was a disgusting moment in our nation's history. While some were congratulating themselves over such a low death toll, because they didn't want, and/or try, to find out the real toll, thousands died after the storm. While there were thousands of people doing their best to help Puerto Ricans, there needed to be even more support in the months following the storm. Those who had the power to send appropriate resources didn't. The response stepped up, but not enough to meet the need and it was too late for many. I know it will never happen, but those who hid the true death toll should honestly be in jail because they are partly responsible for killing a lot of people.

I'm not blaming the people that went down there to help. I'm blaming the politicians who said they were getting them all the help they needed. But I don't want to get into that part any further.

It just needs to be said that there was a massive failure here and we as a nation can't let this happen again.
