Re: Birth of Barry?

A fierce storm front blew through Alligator Point on Monday evening and our house got struck by lightning. We have spent the past couple of days repairing the damage ... air-conditioning out because of a fried thermostat ... phone-internet out because of a fried interior modem and outdoor connection box ... elevator quit because of a fried elevator sensor ... plumbing damage with an interior faucet blown off a wall causing water to flood laundry room and nearby areas in lower level of house ... loss of water flow to one shower. I was not expecting this to happen Monday evening because the forecasts were for the storm to move southward from Georgia and enter the gulf along our local beaches on Wednesday. Today (Wednesday) was pleasant on Alligator Point. So did the storm move over us that much faster than forecast? Was this the leading edge of Barry just before it entered the gulf? Our telephone-internet repairman told us that there were also numerous waterspouts in the St. George Island - Apalachicola area on Monday and the service reps were handling a huge number of service outages from Monday's weather event. If this was the birth of Barry, it is a sneaky storm and continues to be unpredictable with the weather experts having a difficult time getting a handle on what it is likely to do next.
