I'm working with an organization to try to position relief supplies on the edge of the forecast disaster field. I'm trying to compare the relative size of Ida to Katrina. At landfall, Katrina's hurricane force winds extended out 120 miles. Presently Ida's extend out 25 miles (7:00 am CDT advisory), but this will undoubtedly grow larger with increased intensification.
So here's my question: Does anyone have records about how far out Katrina's hurricane force winds extended out (16 years ago today 08/28/21). Presently, it appears to me that Ida is a smaller storm than Katrina, but I wanted to get your opinions on that. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
