Thanks. I was just able to view tidal data from that station, so we would not have flooded. Close though. Roads are flooded all over the place. Roads blocked with police blocking them. Debris on the road at times. Before 6am I cleared a giant branch off Independence Parkway. Someone would have had a bad day if they hit that. We were seeing if we wanted to go to a nearby parking garage or just park next to my neighborhood. Since we scouted out which areas were flooded and which were not, and which had a ways to go, we knew where we'd be okay. Just watched the rain all day. Naturally people kayaking in the neighborhood next to me. Body boarders on the golf course. UPS and mail tried to run down my street but they were turning people around. I didn't add it to email to family but one reason it is closed is that a power box may have had issues in the flooding in the neighborhood next to me. The local electric utility turned around in the parking lot we were in. We didn't know where they wanted to go since all the lights seemed to be on. But a neighbor told us about power box. Maybe a few hundred feet from where the people were kayaking and just being in the water. Not smart! They are letting people wade back through the front entrance to my neighborhood though. Just didn't feel like doing that. Who knows what is in the water. I saw a catfish, maybe a walking variety like I released in the same pond many, many years ago after another tropical storm.

Wrote this to email to family:

We evacuated to just outside the front entrance to our neighborhood and then before the water got a little deep, a block away in the parking lot at the golf course. Police are blocking the road since it's under water. A neighbor showed us security camera footage at their house. They still had green grass in their back yard not flooded. Based on the water level I think we probably did okay. We left after the wind when the water level was rising fast enough before the highest tide at 2:30pm where we didn't want to risk the car being flooded in the house, so we left early, before 6am, when the water was just barely covering the road. The water has receded slightly even though the highest tide of the month is at 2:30pm, so that's good. We slept through the little wind we kind of had last night I think. It's been rainy at times.

After the water at other roads receded we finally decided to go to McDonald to eat a little something more and use their WiFi. We brought food with us too. The water is receding very slowly, so we don't know when we'll be able to get back. The front entrance to our neighborhood floods so easily, even with heavy rain, so that might delay it some too.
