That's some really bad lucky followed by some pretty good luck, considering there is some damage. I thought it got tangled up with some debris somehow, not that the thing got torn off with the mounting from where it was mounted. They really messed up there, so I'm glad they made it somewhat right.
Your camera has definitely been on some trips!
When I thought it maybe got there by accident, it reminded me over the summer when I was visiting family and my dad accidentally threw away the car keys in a kitchen trash can. (or he had put them on the counter and they got pushed into it, we were putting stuff right above the trash can on the counter, not really that smart) I think he was carrying them downstairs with something he was throwing away, so that was likely what happened. Then I think I might have taken the can out to throw it away outside and heard the jingling. It was good, because we had forgot it was trash day where we were and had wanted to put it out to the street. When I heard the trash truck coming very shortly after that, I ran outside as fast as I could and dragged the big can out to the street and they took it. I was zipping down a long driveway with the full trash can on wheels. Had I not found the keys, we would have searched for who knows how long and would have had to somehow buy some while out of state. Who knows how long that would have taken. Cars are keyed so weirdly so you have to get it from a dealership and I have no idea how that would have had to happen. It's not like you can easily make a copy of a key to have as a spare. Maybe they have to rekey them all, not sure. I know it's very expensive. Both our remotes have been broken for awhile so we have to put the key into the door to get in and to lock it. Just buying those was going to be a lot. Or maybe they would have to do the keys at the same time, I don't know. Haven't needed to yet. (the one spare key we had was at home, something we might have to rethink for trips) |
