Although not ideal conditions--I think 97L has passed through the worst of it

Entering now into E Carib Sea. Still shear ahead, but not as fierce, and associated more with the upper level high in the west Carib, than with the strong Upper level low to the north in the West Atlantic. Thunderstorms should have a chance to form a little closer to the center, instead of getting blown off to the north. If cyclogenesis begins, I would look toward the southern end of the ball of convection which has appeared in the Lesser Antilles Islands. Might still have to wait for movement into the W Carib before development. But I think that it is worth watching right now, in the short term. This image shows the shear around the upper level high in the Carib, and with relatively milder conditions further west. Also the rejuvenated convection around 13 N.
