MTSAT-1R visible images showed the large shadow from a solar eclipse, which could be seen moving from west to east across Asia and the Pacific Ocean on 22 July 2009.
According to Wikipedia, this was the longest-lasting total solar eclipse of the 21st century, with a duration of up to 6.5 minutes in some locations.
