Hurricane exhausts?

Anyone noticed the "bag" of convection that an established hurricane creates and drags behind itself, as a sort of source for moisture and instability to draw from?

Most of the time, as with Katrina, and Ivan, that "bag" is due south by about 200-300 miles, but in Bill's case, his is due east of him by about 300 miles or so.

This is an interesting phenomenon, but one that should be explored.  We know that established cyclones can create their own weather, but this "bag" of convection dragged behind hurricanes is a created lifeline of moisture and instability that the hurricane draws from to maintain itself.
