Stupid university taught mets

It may just be the first of a few bursts of convection but it looks like the real deal to me.
Models are pathetic now, nothing.
That funky green spot needs to be incorporated into one of those darn models.
Stupid university taught mets can't incorporate anything into the models without an overly complex formula.
I don't see how there can be so much convection without a closed circulation at the surface, but I can't find any yet on QuikSCAT.
