I had not looked at the water temps down there yet.

But, I should have known from the January warmth what the trend was. Jeff Masters post about the warm January this year:

It was a very cold January in Florida, but worldwide things were very warm.

All that snow in the northeast has been deceptive too. Temps have actually not been bad. Not sure how the temps in February match up to average, but with the water the way it is, I guess it has been warm where it counts.
