The second I saw "Cape Verde", I immediately thought of Ivan. I don't think the Caribbean wants a repeat of Ivan. But I do think you're right.

SSTs look prime out there. The Carib is warm too. If the GOM rebounds to average from the cold winter, we're in trouble. I suspect the colder SSTs north of the MDR will help generate some solid east-west ridging, forcing storms to track more westerly this season.
