The air is only borderline unstable, so it is having a hard time firing deep convection.
TROPICAL WEATHER OUTLOOK NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL 200 PM EDT TUE JUN 22 2010
FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...
A TROPICAL WAVE OVER THE CENTRAL CARIBBEAN SEA HAS BECOME LESS ORGANIZED TODAY. SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE WAVE WILL LIKELY SPREAD ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC...HAITI...JAMAICA...AND EASTERN CUBA DURING THE NEXT DAY OR SO. THERE IS A LOW CHANCE...20 PERCENT...OF THIS SYSTEM BECOMING A TROPICAL CYCLONE DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS. HOWEVER... ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BECOME MORE CONDUCIVE FOR SLOW DEVELOPMENT OF THIS SYSTEM OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS AS IT MOVES WEST-NORTHWESTWARD AT ABOUT 10 MPH.
