Part of confusion due to stupid "near 0% probability" labled with cautionary yellow circle

Posted about this before. Its nonsensical. The one does not go with the other. Actually your penalized for being a conscientious member of the public. You see the yellow circle and your rightly concerned, only to read that there's a near 0% probability of development. Suddenly chances are radically upped "to about 60%". The nearness of this system to the coast really made that high 60% figure very problematic. The contrast in numbers which occured in only a few hours is striking. In my mind the 0% was invalid. If true, there wouldn't have been a yellow circle. It makes the 60% which was overboard to the other extreme look more ridiculous than it should. In any case a tropical low made landfall along the central La. coast today---nothing more, nothing less. Of more importance is the wave along the Yucatan coast---which if it does develop would probably track NW along the east side of that ULL in the SW Gulf, and on toward upper Texas of La. |
