| Conclue---I doubt if the high ocean temps off the NE are related to your recent heat wave or even overall temps during the summer in the NE. Remember, ocean temps over large swaths of tropical ocean have been at record levels since last winter. At this point (peak of summer) the ocean currents are transferring that record heat to areas further north. In any event, I think Fred is right to be concerned about the effects this would have on tropical activity along the NE Coast. Very possible that any system working its way up Virginia-MD to especially NJ-LI might remain a more purely tropical system than in other years. |
