Ok, guys, all three storms were bad.  The media is "in love" with New Orleans.  I am not sure why as I have visited the city and don't care for it much.   But they are.  And that's ok.

You know, Texas opened its arms to the survivors of Katrina  I am very proud of them for that.  And then we had a storm of our own.  And remember, southwest LA was devastated by Rita and they didn't get much coverage either.  But I was proud of the way everyone just got to work and took care of everybody.  Neighbors helping neighbors.  

Living in Beaumont, I went through Rita, Humberto (he was actually pretty cool-stayed out on the back porch to watch him blow through), and Ike.  Evacuation for Rita wasn't fun.  Stayed for Ike.  No, these two storms were not fun and yes, the media basically ignored what was happening to the people here, but it was all a good lesson in life.  And Jefferson County  did a great job rebuilding after both storms.  Bolivar is coming to life again.  Sabine Pass is rebuilding.  Bridge City is too.

All three of those storms were beautiful storms.  We all made the choice to live on the coast.
Hurricanes, tropical storms, lots of tropical moisture are just something we have to live with if we choose to live here.  Many of those media people really don't know much about hurricanes or what it is like to live through one.  They just want to find a good story because their concern is ratings.

I think one reason we visit this board is because we are interested in hurricanes.  I know I have been fascinated with them and how they form since I was a child.  I will always be interested in them and though I do not wish their destruction on anyone I am always blown away by how beautiful they are on radar.  

By the way, what does anyone think about the cluster  around Puerto Rico?
