Doubt too many will remember my posting here a couple of years ago saying I'd read of new theories that climate change (at that time still largely termed global warming) might actually act to inhibit hurricane formation, due to increased vertical wind shear caused by increasing temperatures. The post didn't stir much interest at the time, as I recall.
Yes, the 2010 season is still young, and a lot can happen between now and the end. That said, it doesn't hurt to think about all the factors that MAY be operating in the Atlantic Basin, possibly causing the shear conditions some have termed strange.
Again, it's just something we may want to keep in mind, as an interesting possibility. Here's a NOAA magazine article from April, 2007 about the study:
