If it sells air time, NBC will say it and they don't give a crap whether it's accurate.

They lead w/ a "Hurricane in the Atlantic", cut to commercials, come back from the commercial break, prognosticate about how the Dems will fair in the mid-term elections. Tease some story about a lost cat that walked from Maine to Miami then mention the hurricane by name, cut to commercials. Come back from the commercial break and bring in their "Special Hurricane Expert" (usually Bob from Accounting) who shows the NHC 5-Day track. (the only real evidence they have that a hurricane actually exists)

Then Bob will wave his hands around the Green Screen babbling on about High Pressure this and Steering Current that followed by "The South East Texas Coast" if and Bermuda when or if blah, blah, blah and 99% of the viewers will listen intently and wonder if they should start making evacuation plans or whether they should go pick up Granny from Cape Cod, just to be safe.

NBC is as clueless about hurricanes as high school juniors are about birth control.....Sad, really, really sad....
