for me, Charley defied both intensity and track.

I brought my daughter down from Univ of So FL to be safe with me here on charlotte Harbor. (!)
A cat 2 turned into a cat 4 and came at us in a matter of hours.  I will always be grateful to this site for receiving dropsonde info soon enough to realize this and take us all to my mother-in-laws (she lives nearby and directly on the waterfront) and thus narrowly preventing her from opening the front door to check out "the storm" in the middle of a Cat 4. I have a video of the whole thing, shortly after going thru the eye she asked my husband if he preferred mayo or mustard on his chicken sandwich she was just then making.  She was 78 at the time and her husband was 80, they both stayed in the destroyed condo complex without electricity for many weeks.
What a tough gal.  She is still tough as hell but fortunately now knows not to open the door in a hurricane.
