Hurricane Igor Size Comparison
by Tim Ballisty, Editorial Meteorologist

Helpful analogy

Now if you are given a baseball to throw at the bottles, your aim, your delivery, your pitching speed
all must be just right in order take down the stack of bottles. One slight incorrect adjustment and you could miss the stack altogether.

But if given a basketball to throw at the stack, your aim and delivery can be off and you'll still manage to knock a few bottles down.

The baseball represents a small to medium-size hurricane while the basketball represents hurricanes the size of Igor.

The point is this, Hurricane Igor is so large that even if Bermuda is not directly struck by the eyewall of Igor,
the island will still have to deal with tropical storm-force sustained winds and even hurricane-force sustained winds.
