My son and I saw Endeavour lift off in July 2009 (STS-127).  We made two trips (June and July) and endured two causeway scrubs and three scrubs before we got out there.  At the end there were so few people left they took us to the VIP area at Banana Creek (by the Saturn V building).  Absoluately awesome - so glad we cancelled our 'other" vacation and went back - there were no summer launches in 2010 and it will be a mob scene whenever STS-135 goes.  We would love to go back but I don't know if I can pack enough patience to deal with the crowds.  :)
