I know NAM is not too good for TC intensity modeling but does have skill in analyzing synoptic patterns.
It is not showing a strong UL ridge as opposed to GFS.
Another note, GFS is showing very strong theta-e and CAPE values in the GOM while NAM shows moderate values.
