My local radio station here in Pensacola tweeted a link to this earlier this morning.
"Possible Development In The Eastern Or Central Atlantic Over The Next Week: Once we are finished tracking Emily, we will be quickly turning our eyes eastward as things are about to get more active off of the African Coast. Many of the global model guidance have been off and on with the possibility of a tropical cyclone developing in the far eastern Atlantic next week from a tropical disturbance now located across west-central Africa. The latest GFS model is the most aggressive and forecasts this to become a long-tracked storm that tracks into the Caribbean and across the Gulf of Mexico with a landfall on the Alabama coastline and Florida panhandle on August 19th. In fact, the GFS model forecasts up to three storms developing over the next two weeks. The European model, on the other hand, has been off and on with potential development and currently forecasts no development from this particular tropical disturbance."

How can they possibly see that far ahead to give a possible landfall location 2 weeks out? Crazy. |
