I wouldn't call Louisa County, the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains as it is approximately 50 miles to Afton from Mineral, Va.  Charlottesville is more likely in the foothills.  I lived in the Richmond area most of my life.  Felt a few small quakes but nothing like what they experienced today.  

I was concerned about the North Anna nuclear power plant. My son-in-law worked for Bectel when they did an overhaul of that facility back in the late 90s.  He says it sounds like it functioned just as it should have and that taking it off line is part of their safety precautions.

Other rumors concern the structural integrity of the Washington Monument and the National Cathedral.  Mineral is a little over 80 miles from D.C.
