It could be really bad for the NE. Some of the model projections even put Albany in a flood. The location of the trough and associated advection patterns in conjuntion with Irene would not only bring strong winds to the region but would even dump a massive ammount of rain in it's path to the NE when interacting with a frontal trough! I can't imagine this solution unfolding.
Her size just makes things worse because she will have (and allready does) an expanded windfield that will bring even tropical storm to Cat 1 winds to many inland regions. If she skirts off the coast it doesn't mean it won't cause tremendous problems even if it doesn't make a direct landfall. Massive rain and winds for areas like NE would cause choas. Not to mention the surge of water in LI/NYC. |
