There is A  LOT of good news with this storm. NYC, the Jersey shore and the northeast will not see NEARLY the magnitude of storm and surge they could have seen in a more intense system. This one never got its act together-not down near the Bahamas, not off the southeast coast, not up near NC and certainly not now. Just another example of how embarrassingly poor intensity forecasting remains, and how seemingly little hope there is for any improvement on that front in the years ahead. We had so many people on this board and in weather offices anticipating deepening or even rapid deepening over the course of this storm's life. It never happened.

I could not have asked for this situation to turn out any better than it has for the northeast--mother nature has spared them a big blow.
