I think post season analysis will find that there was epic subsidence off the app's due to the synoptic pattern that was present as she moved up the east coast. Initially the dry air made sense that it was being wrapped in from the belly of the trough, however it was odd as Irene rode up the coast. I'm wondering if this is what caused persistent dry air to be entrained into the system; the models might not handle this feedback of subsidence into the hurricane well.
She is a scientists dream. I'm sure my professor can't wait to get a graduate student on this, lol. He's prolly allready started. |
