The layout is not indicative of the cumulative set of advances we have collectively made in interface design over the last twenty years. The information architecture and user experience are indicative of something seen in the mid-late 1990's. The only thing missing is the little animated "under construction" sign with the guy shoveling dirt over his shoulder.
Everything shoved into fixed-width, padded-border tables is the best that it gets? In reality, there is so much more that can easily implemented to make this interface more intuitive, informative, and useful for audiences of all shapes and sizes.
The rule of thumb in the design industry is that any website that requires a training video is problematic enough to be fatally flawed. The mere mention that training is requires just re-emphasizes how non-intuitive the interface must be. I'm just letting my background do the talking; if you can muddle through it, that's great, more power to you. In HCI principles, form plays a large role in function. |
