As far as the rainfall, Allison did flood parts of the metro Houston area. But the real damage from flooding was caused by the remnants of Allison three days later after landfall. As Allison or the left over core of Allison drifted back towards Houston from East Texas, she turned into a drifting cold core low. When she got to Cleveland then the Woodlands and finally to the Houston Northwest area she was dropping 5 inch and hour rainfall rates. This is when the real damage was done. 36 inches for the whole event in some areas. |
