Possibly, but thus far sat loops have been a poor indicator of Ernie's intensity. Earlier in this system's life pressure would rise and winds would fall just as organization appeared to be increasing on the loops.
To me this has been a bizarre storm that puts the '04-'05 seasons in perspective--Ernie shows us just how many environmental conditions need to fall into place at exactly the same time for a storm to become as powerful as those of prior seasons. For such storms to occur in such abundance back then is, in retrospect, totally unbelievable. |
