That is the question of the hour given Isaac's unanticipated but rather pronounced NW motion since last night. I increasingly have trouble seeing this system take the kind of hard left turn it now would have to take if it's going to adhere to the current NHC forecast track and many models. That said, Jim's discussion of sea surface pressures in his most recent video update makes for a very convincing illustration of the possibility that Isaac could indeed sail right through the FL Straits and into the Keys and SE GOMEX.
Bottom line for me is that while everyone focuses on the Keys as the bull's eye, I see south Dade County as a place that has at least as much chance of taking the brunt of this thing as the Keys do at the moment.
And of course let's not forget the SW Bahamas. Those folks are definitely under the gun at this point.
Lastly, any kind of prolonged trek across Cuba is pretty much out of the question now. |
