Updated to say "NW to SE pass" instead of "SE to NW pass"

Flight level winds are increasing to the SW. 30 second sustained of 100 knots (115mph) at around 9,500 feet 170 miles SW of the center. Around hurricane force winds gusts at the surface there. Not stronger at the surface yet. However, Sandy is starting to look like it is getting an eye again:

A very unique storm. I can't wait to see what the NW to SE pass brings likely before midnight so we can see what some of the redeveloping convection has in it. |
