I think we'll forgive a few misspellings! That's why I like Firefox. It underlines everything I get wrong in the message box so I can then select what it should be.
I often forget to check the surface forecast so I had not been to the marine page recently. When I posted this the NHC did have the low hanging out in the SW Gulf through about 4 days. Now however, in the most recent update just posted, they shoot it off to the NNE/NE around the coast of central Louisiana. That is why I love the 72 hour surface forecast for storms that have yet to develop! You get the inside track before any possible advisories begin.
I like NASA's imagery as a background layer for model data. They had earth at night and blue marble imagery both available. Adding one of those, with a transparent NOAA satellite, looks nice with model data. With earth at night imagery you can really see where populated areas are along coastlines which is a great resource too. I also added a feature that creates a consensus line from the models selected. That is currently only available on the model site at Hurricane City. The changes would require recreating all the model data on my site so it will be next year before I do that as I'm rewriting the model system. I'm rewriting my recon system too. (experimental recon site, with few features) It will take another year to complete both. |
