The extrapolation from flight level is sometimes off. When ascending or descending especially. But sometimes in stronger storms it does read a little low. The direct reading was 971mb with 7 knots of wind. If they miss the center, there will be some wind. About for every 10 knots of surface wind in the center you can subtract a millibar, so the pressure was about what the direct reading was from the dropsonde. |
