Thanks, Chris, for your input. I knew it was Musk's personal car and that didn't change my feeling that this was a junky stunt. It all just left me with the feeling that a carnival barker was running things rather than a serious space explorer. I know that's harsh, but that was my honest reaction.
And if people's attention to the space effort can only be won by such showmanship...well...I suppose it says more about us than about Elon Musk.
But then, this country recently elected another grandstanding showman, didn't we? Maybe it's a syndrome.
Sorry - you made a good case, but I must be too old. I'm not at all impressed with the Tesla bit. |
