Re: Is it Cape Verde season yet?

It's easy to forget about some of the other islands out there. Some of the models do show a potential threat to the Azores from Potential Tropical Cyclone Six. But since we're talking about a long time from now, whether it will come anywhere near there is uncertain.

In the meantime, a tropical storm warning was issued at 11am today for some of the Cape Verde Islands.

I don't know about Bermuda or the eastern part of Canada. It's too far out yet to determine if there's a reasonable threat to them. We can't ever say never for other areas, but there would be a lot of warning if it did take a more southerly track.

But appearing in the models are some other things that seem to have a better chance of impacting the US, like something coming off Africa that could remain lower in latitude. But that's even further off.

Euro:

GFS:

In the shorter term, we'll have to keep an eye on whether something may develop off the west coast of Florida. The Euro has been on that some, but the GFS hasn't shown much, at least as of recent runs. Not sure where that area came from. If something named were to hit the US in the next week and a half, I would say that would be it, possibly on northern Gulf coast to NW Gulf coast.
