As Jim mentioned tonight, whether it weakens or not, it's already built up a lot of water.

I like to look at the Surge Destructive Potential rating. It's currently about a 4.1 on a scale to 6. That's a rough estimate that is based on the wind field as of 8pm EDT Wednesday.

Bottom right corner of this page has the estimated calculation:
http://hurricanecity.com/models/models.cgi?basin=al&year=2018&storm=06&display=best_track

Calculator on how it is done: http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/ike/Calculator_AllQuad.php

"The SDP box is the Surge Destructive Potential Rating based on a scale of zero to 6. SDP is interpreted similar to the Saffir SImpson scale in that the most destructive storms are rated above 5 and the least destructive storms < 1."

And if you turn on IKE:
http://hurricanecity.com/models/models.cgi?basin=al&year=2018&storm=06&display=best_track&simple=&map_thumbnails=&city_distances=&ike=1
It shows terajoules.

That's an estimate too. Earlier it was undercounting the terajoules.

This technology used to be free at NOAA but was sold to a private company and now you have to pay to get he detailed info that is of better quality. (RMS HWind)

There is a Wind Destructive Potential (WDP) too but it can't be done without detailed wind radii that the private company now produces.
