Temperature sensor at Tampa's airport malfunctioned and they readjusted the temps for several days
Posted by Chris in Tampa on 10/5/2018, 9:57 pm
Seems unusual to me to be able to come up with new values. The two 97's for the last two days of the month have been replaced by 94's. It was still our warmest month ever recorded. (85.8F average) There is now a new sensor based on what I heard on the news.

National Weather Service Tampa Bay Ruskin FL

...PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Due to a malfunctioning temperature sensor unit within the
Automated Surface Observing System (ASOS) at the Tampa
International Airport (KTPA), erroneous temperature spikes were
identified during the afternoons of September 29 through October
2, 2018. Therefore, maximum temperatures for these days have been
calibrated down to values more representative of the area and the
associated weather pattern. Updated Record Event Reports
(MIARERTBW) and climate data have been disseminated in regard to
these adjustments."
