I'm not sure why they turned around, maybe the NHC will say in 2pm EDT advisory, or 5pm EDT discussion, but if there was the tiniest thing that didn't look right, it's best they turned around. Whether it was a tropical storm or category 5, they probably would have turned around either way, but it's definitely best in a storm like this.

They rarely do it, but I guess it might be possible to send another plane out before tomorrow afternoon's mission. It might be late tonight, but I would think they would send another one if at all possible. But since they probably don't have a crew ready to go that quickly, maybe not. There is only one more mission scheduled for the storm and that's tomorrow. Maybe they will send tomorrow's crew earlier and add a mission. Or just send out that mission earlier. I really with they did more missions for storms that don't threaten the US. They don't really do much recon in the East Pacific.
