In the NE quadrant around 12:01 to 12:03am AST:
Highest Flight Level Wind (30 sec. Avg.): 52 knots (60 mph) Highest Peak (10 sec. Avg.) Flight Level Wind: 54 knots (62mph) Highest SFMR Peak (10s Avg.) Sfc. Wind: 57 knots (66 mph) ... Measured twice in a row
That's the first 50+ knot winds at flight level measured in the storm. Given the SFMR values were very close to where the flight level winds were, I wouldn't count them out as unrepresentative. Usually flight level winds are higher, but the rain rate was only 0.16 to 0.20 in/hr at the time so I wouldn't call them rain contaminated. I don't know what the NHC will go with it, but I would imagine they will bump them up at 2am AST, maybe to 55 knots. (which in advisory would be 60mph) |
