I always prepare, but you can't prepare for your electricity purposefully being shut off just before dark on the coldest night of the year, the decade, three decades - no warning. were without elctricity for over 36 hours at the coldest hours
if not for that, we would be fine, but now have had a water leak above a bedroom so sheetrock repair - also need to replace a water heater, but it was old, so that's on us, we drained it before the cold hit hard & shut off it's water supply
the freakin "energy state" has not done very well for it's citizens - shamefull
damage everywhere, not just us - multiply by millions
it's like a winter cat 5
husband and son stood in line for hours to get access to grocery store to get more supplies once the ice was gone on roads & stores opened, they are all rationing
we're melting the ice chunks from the yard to get water to flush toilets, not fun, but over 20 gallons so it works for a while (no pool to dip into for that)
will try Lowes or Home Depot tomorrow to see about water heater replacement
we're all exhausted & disgusted
