CaneTalk: Ida and Plaquemines Parish

Ida and Plaquemines Parish

I know someone who lives in or near Venice, Louisiana, dead centre in the middle of Plaquemines Parish. She ia an ex-Army combat vet who has decided not to evacuate due in part to her pets.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I'm wondering if this is a sensible decision, given the likely strength and direction of Ida and the geography of the Parish. She lives outside the levee protection.
