It was sad. I haven't seen any of the details on this particular crash. I'm always worried about space travel every time someone goes up or comes back down. It's such a greater risk than air travel, but smaller planes certainly seem to be more dangerous than large commercial planes. I would be nervous in the really small planes that only carry a few people. Many of them are just one engine. I would think maintenance history, in general, is probably worse on average. The news very often has small planes making emergency landings in various places (and many landings are very successful) and crashes seem to happen rather frequently too, sometimes hitting houses and cars.
