I was surprised at the surge values for Tampa Bay in the public advisory:
https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATCPAT4+shtml/
5 to 8 feet as of posting this message. That could be the most significant surge I've ever seen here. It's going to require a lot of evacuations in the area by Wednesday evening I would imagine. Even if we don't get hurricane force winds, there could be thousands of homes flooded.
Forecast to be relatively fast moving, but large. And a shallow shelf. And a bay with nowhere for the water to go. And a lot of time with a flow taking the water right up into the bay. |
