I'm glad the Atlantic isn't that busy. One in development is enough. I'm buying the Atlantic basin a calendar for Christmas. Or maybe I should make it Thanksgiving so it gets the message on time.
That's okay. As Bluesky gets more popular, I need a way to do it automatically. I found a way to get the unique user id server side and it will work, I just need to implement it in the best way. If the lookup of the unique user id fails, because it's wrong or the service is not available, I need it to not prevent the post from being posted at CaneTalk. Or at the very least, let the user bypass that lookup if the page hangs when posting, is slow, or there is some kind of other error generated. Also, I need to handle looking up more than one unique user id in the same post. I wish it could do it automatically and fail if it doesn't resolve properly on their end, but I looked at their docs and I don't see how that is possible. Someone can change their handle, so I guess this unique id is a way to have everything still associated with an account if that happens, but other services must do it all behind the scenes.
Edit:
It now does it automatically. All you need to do is add a Bluesky link and it embeds it automatically. I added an option to turn it off too in case something goes wrong in the process. Right now it always contacts their server to get the unique user id I need. I might also store a list of a few most used people so it doesn't have to look those up each time. I also need to not do it each time a message is previewed, so I need to work on it some more still too.
Also, I fixed Instagram posts from not appearing from a link. They added usernames to a link now and the system wasn't configured for that. |
